Carl Eric Stålberg

Carl Eric Stålberg is Executive Chairman of Swedbank. He was named Executive Chairman of the bank at the Annual General Meeting in 2003.

 

From 1996-2002 Mr. Stålberg served as President and CEO of JM AB, a major public Swedish construction company.

 

In the two decades preceding that he was employed in the Swedish banking sector, including 1992–1996 as Executive Vice President at Swedbank/Sparbanken Sverige AB and 1994–1996 as deputy CEO, CFO and Controller as well as Chairman of Fastighets AB Tornet, the bank’s real estate company. In addition, he was responsible for the bank’s IPO in 1995.

 

From 1992–1994 Carl Eric Stålberg was employed by the bank as Executive Vice President responsible for regional operations in Central Sweden. He has also served as President and CEO of two Swedish savings banks: Nya Sparbanken in 1986-1992 and Gävleborgs Sparbank in 1983-1986.

 

For nine years prior to this, he held various management positions.

 

Carl Eric Stålberg was born in Eskilstuna, Sweden on January 15, 1951. He graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Uppsala University.

 

Mr. Stålberg serves as Chairman of the Sweden-Japan Foundation, Chairman of the Center for Banking and Financing at KTH, Vice Chairman of the International Ski Federation, Vice Chairman of the European Savings Banks Group (ESBG) and is a Member of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the United Kingdom and the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Stålberg is a member of the Swedish Government’s Council for Financial Market (Finansmarknadsrådet).
